FAECARE BUILDS CAPACITY OF 40 PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN RIVERS STATE
Building the capacity is a crucial and an important aspect of advancing disability rights in any community or state. For there to be any significant gain, Persons with Disabilities must be intentionally engaged to take on the realities with skills gained to begin to dismantle barriers to inclusion.
This strategy has become an important part of FAECARE Foundation’s approach to advancing Disability Rights.
In the month of may as part of her Disability Rights Initiative Project Accessibility, FAECARE with the support of DRF trained 40 Disability Accessibility Advocates being forty Persons with Disabilities in Rivers State from different disability clusters, male and female.
For three days, advocates were trained on disability rights focused on issues of accessibility. A 3 days, 28th to 30th May, comprehensive trainin, on disability rights, policy and legislative advocacy skills and accessibility for 40 persons with disabilities in Rivers State, to build advocacy and leadership skills of advocates. As a primary focus accessibility of the physical environment was looked at closely.
During the very dynamic training, advocates got to formulate key accessibility and disability messages informed by knowledge gained from the exposure to learning.
FAECARE Foundation envisions a Rivers State, where accessibility becomes an integral aspect of societal infrastructure and consciousness. With more trained advocates ww anticipate these and more.
