In the month of April, FAECARE Foundation took a significant step towards promoting disability rights in rural Rivers State with the training, inauguration and commissioning of Disability Rights Initiative Project: Rural Rivers (DRIP:RR) Disability Peer Mentors and the Central Inter-Task Action Group (CITAG) Following the launch of the project in March this was an essential ans key activity to facilitate the goals of the Disability Rights Initiative Project: Rural Rivers well known as DRIP:RR.
The program held in Port Harcourt, brought together key representatives of the disability community, trained disability advocates from past DRIP projects and members of the Central Inter task action group for the project.
Disability Rights Initiative project: Rural Rivers powered by FAECARE Foundation and supported by Disability Rights Fund aims to achieve its goals through a multi-faceted approach including this activities the training, inauguration and commissioning of Disability Rights Initiative Project: Rural Rivers (DRIP:RR) Disability Peer Mentors and the Central Inter-Task Action Group (CITAG)

The event featured insightful sessions, including:
An overview of the DRIP:RR project and its objectives.
A comprehensive session on understanding disability, disability rights and disability inclusion.
A discussion on the roles and responsibilities of CITAG members and Disability Peer Mentors
Establishment and Inauguration of Disability Peer Mentors and CITAG
Next Steps on carrying out project and selection of 10 Local Govt. Areas in Rural Rivers

With the project now underway FAECARE Foundation looks forward to seeing the positive impact of this initiative on the lives of persons with disabilities in rural Rivers State. The organization remains committed to promoting disability rights and inclusive practices in the region.
